Neymar left the Nou Camp for PSG in 2017 for a world record fee but could be set to make a dramatic return to reunite with Messi

Reports in Spain claim that talks over a new contract for Neymar at Paris Saint Germain have stalled with the player keen to return to Barcelona.

The Brazilian left the Spanish giants in 2017 in a world record £200million deal with rumours this season suggesting former teammate Lionel Messi will soon be joining him in Paris.

Messi’s Barcelona future was thrown into doubt as the club struggled both domestically and in Europe as well as the Argentine falling out with former club president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

However, following the return of former president Joan Laporta and Barca’s improved recent La Liga form, there is increased confidence that the player will stay with the club and that Neymar would like to reunite with his former teammate at the Nou Camp.

Barca reportedly failed in a bid to bring Neymar back to Spain in 2019 and the player has also been linked with the club’s rivals Real Madrid.

The brazilian has scored 83 times in 105 appearances for the French side, helping them to three successive league titles since his arrival.

The side also reached a historic first Champions League final last season, however Neymar and his teammates fell short in a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.
