Kenyan Steeplechase Olympic Gold Medalist, Conseslus Kipruto Arraigned In Court For Chewing A Minor

After three weeks on the run, 2019 world championships 3000m steeplechase gold medalist Conseslus Kipruto has been arraigned in court.

Kipruto appeared before Kapsabet principal magistrate David Ocharo facing two counts of defiling and engaging in an indecent act with a child.

The athlete was charged that between October 20th-21, 2020 at Tironin village in Mutwot location of Nandi County defiled a girl aged 15 contrary to sexual offenses Act of 2016.

He denied the charges and was released in a Ksh. 200,000 cash bail and a surety of similar amount.

Ocharo directed that the case will come up for hearing on May 10, 2021.

Wearing a red jacket, hiding his face from the media cameras, Kipruto denied the charges.

The athlete drove himself into the law courts in his private vehicle.
