Pastor Aloysius Bugingo and Susan Makula’s case won’t be easy and it has started giving Male Mabirizi Kiwanuka headache!
On December 7th, Susan Makula introduced Bugingo in a colourful ceremony that took place at Kawuku, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District.
After the ceremony, Male Mabirizi Kiwanuka dragged the pair to court for contracting new marriage yet Bugigo is still legally married to Teddy Naluswa.
On December 22, Entebbe Chief Magistrate Court charged Bugingo and Makula with three counts;
- Contracting marriage by Customary Law when already married under the Marriage Act Cap 521 contrary to Section 50 of the Marriage Act, Cap 251.
- Marriage with a person previously married contrary to section 42 of the Marriage Act, Cap 251.
- Bigamy contrary to section 153 of the penal code act, Cap 120
Bwerenga LC1 Chairman confirmed that the customary marriage ceremony indeed took place. But the evidence is not enough.
Male Mabirizi must provide more evidence to prove that Makula introduced Bugingo.
Bugingo, in his statement at the police, he denied having been introduced by Makula and claimed he just went on casual visit.
Kato Lubwama has also distanced himself from the ceremony and said it was a get together.
Mabirizi must parade some of the people that attended the ceremony to give evidence in court but has failed to get any volunteer.
Speaking in an interview, Mabirizi said he wants the judge to issue warranty of arrest to Pastor, Simeon Kayiwa, Frank Gashumba, Isaac Katende aka Kasuku, James Senkubuge, Kato Lubwama, Kasolo Simon peter, Nancy Nalwonga among others so that they can testify in court.
He has also written to UCC to direct Salt TV to produce the video of Makula-Bugingo introduction. We hope he succeeds.
This week, Bugingo branded Mabirizi ‘Mabizi’ for nosing in his relationship with Susan Makula.
