The UG Connect concert has stalled just after hosting six shows out of the anticipated 54.

The show that started in July, came to a screeching halt yesterday, leaving its audience confused as to why artistes didn’t show up to perform.

Only hosts and organisers; Douglas Lwanga, Halima Namakula, Isaac Rucci and Juma Balunywa spent hours just vibing on the stage instead of performances.

UG Concert started after events promoter, Juma Balunywa approached Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) to enable artistes earn a living during this period of a ban on concerts.

When artistes started performing, word started making rounds that the organizers were paying them peanuts which led to a revolt.

Putting that aside, promoter Balaam sent an email to the OWC coordinator General Salim Saleh criticising the manner in which the show was organised.

As chaos hit the roof, some artistes; David Lutalo, King Saha, Ziza Bafana refused to perform while others who had performed vowed never to step on UG Connect stage again. A case in point was Spice Diana.

According to Halima Namakula, it was alleged that Jose Chameleone received sh25m, Weasel sh15m and Pallaso sh10m when they showed up as the Mayanja brothers and now it is being used by other artistes as a yardstick when negotiating.

With all the chaos, UG Connect has stalled. The project was intended to go up August 2022 after 54 concerts.
