Former NBS TV and NTV journalist, Sheila Nduhukire held a successful giveaway ceremony locally known as ‘Okuhingira’ in Kiruhura district yesterday.
Sheila who is the Public Relations boss of National Medical Stores (NMS), introduced fiancé Derrick Kakonge aka Derro, the CEO of Security Plus to her parents in a ceremony known as ‘Okugamba Obugenyi’ in March 2022.
In Kinyankole culture, giveaway (Okuhingira) is the ceremony where the parents of the bride officially hands over over to the groom’s parents after receiving bride price.
Former NTV workmates, Maurice Mugisha, Frank Walusimbi attended the function.
The next function is the wedding. Close friends to the couple reveal that Sheilah and Kakonge are set to walk down the aisle later this month.
Derrick Kakonge commonly known as ‘Derro’ by peers is a laid-back guy. He is close friends with Tendo Kaggwa and is a regular at Zone 7 hangout in Mbuya.
Close friends say he is a loaded guy who will not make noise about his wealth.
