Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hopes the club will extend the contract of Gini Wijnaldum.

The Dutch midfielder has proved a key player for Klopp this season, as was the case in the past two campaigns as well.

Given his contract runs out in the summer, Wijnaldum can speak with clubs outside of England from January.

Klopp hopes the club can find an agreement with the 30-year-old to keep him on Merseyside, according to Eurosport.

The German has told the club’s owners FSG and sporting director Michael Edwards to get the contract sorted.

He believes Wijnaldum is worth a new deal, even if it comes with a pay rise.
