National Unity Platform (NUP) president, Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu has vowed never to contest again for presidency until certain issues are looked into.

In 2021 general elections, 11 candidates contested with the incumbent, president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni emerging victorious with 58.38%, followed by Bobi Wine with 35.08%.

After the elections, Bobi Wine and his party challenged the results and went to court. Later, they withdrew the case saying they were taking it to the civilian court.

Since Bobi Wine took the case to the civilian court, his voters have been waiting for results in vain.

Recently, while appearing on Pearl FM, the NUP principal said he will not appear on 2026 ballot if certain issues are not looked into.

He told the presenter that if Museveni is still the president and appointing the electoral commission body, the Chief Justice, the army and police bosses, he won’t run in 2026.

President, Yoweri Museveni

Since president Museveni came to power in 1986, Uganda has never been ruled by another president.

Inside sources say that he plans to run again in 2026 despite his son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba showing interest in the seat.
