Arsenal have made an IMPROVED bid for Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for the Italian throughout the summer transfer window following his starring role for Italy in their victorious Euro 2020 campaign.

So far, a transfer has yet to come to fruition with Arsenal also facing considerable competition from Juventus in the race for Locatelli’s signature.

beIN Sports correspondent Tancredi Palmeri has posted online news of an increased bid for Locatelli, with Arsenal upping their offer to €40million (£34.3m) after opening negotiations in late June.

Italian journalist Palmeri added the Premier League’s side new submission represented a “little raise” on their opening offer, which Sassuolo chief executive Giovanni Carnevali already confirmed at the beginning of July.

“Arsenal have made an official bid for Manuel Locatelli,” Carnevali told Sky Italia.

“They’re pushing hard to sign Manuel and it’s an important bid… we will see.

“Also Juventus want Locatelli and we’ve a special relationship with them. We’ve a new meeting scheduled with Juve.

Be careful Arsenal fans

It is very easy for supporters to get wrapped up in desperation over a potential signing.

For Arsenal fans in particular they have had to deal with a plethora of varying links to players across every single summer transfer window.

In 2020 the race for both Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar saw many disappointed when the Frenchman never arrived. The acquisition of Partey was however seen as a huge coup.

Previous names such as Karim Benzema, Luis Suarez, Gonzalo Higuaín and Yann M’Vila may spark further nostalgic thoughts of summers gone by.

With Locatelli, fans should be wary. Juventus have reportedly already had a bid turned down for Locatelli, a figure Sassuolo were not willing to agree on.
