Man Arrested With NIRA Gadgets Stolen In Kyankwanzi

Eighteen laptops and 28 cameras that were stolen from National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) offices in Kyankwanzi District on New Year, have been recovered in Kampala City as the suspect was looking for buyers.

The items were recovered from the home of Sulaiman Semakadde, 25, a resident of Mutundwe in Rubaga Division, Kampala City.

Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said the suspect is being held on charges of illegal possession of government property and theft.

“He has admitted that the items were stolen from NIRA offices in Kyankwanzi on New Year. He is going to be transferred back to Kyankwanzi where he is alleged to have committed the offences,” Owoyesigyire said.

Semakadde was arrested at his home while looking for a market for stolen property, according to Owoyesigyire said.
