FifiDa Queen real name Phiona Nabitengero is smiling to the bank after the High Court in Kampala ruled that Vision Group pays her millions and issue an apology over defamation.

Bukedde News Paper, on Monday, September 26, 2022, printed and published a headline on the front page in full colour and bold titled “Bakutte FifiDa Queen kuby’okubba” accompanied with her picture.

Further, on Page 5, they extensively published an article under the headline, Ebya Sipapa bikwasizza Fifi, still in full color and bold.

Fifi Da Queen said these articles were not only false but also baseless and injurious to her reputation as a distinguished journalist, a businesswoman, a mother who is happily married, philanthropist and a person of high standing in society.

In September, Fifi Da through her lawyers, Mwesigwa Rukutana & Company Advocates issued notice of intention to sue to former employers, New Vision Printing & Publishing Company, demanding an apology on the front page, UGX1,000,000,000/= (One Billion Uganda Shillings) as compensation for their injurious statements to her reputation, and pay her lawyers UGX50,000,000/= (Fifty Million Uganda Shillings) as legal fees so far incurred in not more than 3days.

Vision Group did not respond and decided to battle her in courts of law. Since then, the pair have been battling until October 24 when His Lordship Justice Musa Sekaana convinced the two parties to settle their issues amicably.

In his judgement, His Lordship Justice Sekaana ordered defendant; Bukedde News Paper to run an apology within 7 days and pay Fifi 25m in damages.
