Inter are willing to offer Christian Eriksen to Arsenal in a swap deal for Granit Xhaka, according to reports in Italy.

Eriksen has struggled to secure a regular role under Antonio Conte since he made the £17 million move from Tottenham to Inter in January.

Conte is keen to bolster his midfield options and his priority target has been N’Golo Kante, but Chelsea refused to sell the World Cup winner in the summer.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Inter’s hierarchy are now considering alternatives to Kante and Xhaka is on their shortlist ahead of the upcoming window.

The report claims that Inter already have intermediaries working behind the scenes to gauge Arsenal’s interest and find out if the Premier League club would be willing to sign Eriksen and lose Xhaka.

Eriksen has already made it clear that he would be open to leaving Inter in January.

‘This isn’t what I dreamed of,’ Eriksen told TV2 last week. ‘All players want to play as much as possible, but the coach decides who gets to go on the pitch.

‘It is a strange situation, as the fans want to see me playing more and so would I, but the coach has different ideas and as a player I have to respect that.

‘Right now it may not be going so well in the club, but in the past, when I did not play that much either, there was great success. ‘I am concentrating on my football, then when the transfer window opens we will see if something will happen or not.’
