October 5, 2020

Uganda Cranes and former Vipers goalkeeper Ismail Watenga departed Uganda for South Africa yesterday ahead of proposed loan deal.

Watenga who has been a free agent since partying ways with Kenyan side Sofapaka FC in January, signed a three year contract with Mamelodi Sundowns.

But Mamelodi Sundowns will loan him out to Golden Arrows or Bidvest Wits.

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeping department has three goalkeepers; Denis Onyango, Kennedy Mwene and newly acquired Ricardo Goss from Bidvest Wits.

If the loan deal materialize, Watenga will join Onyango and Supersport United midfileder, Moses Waiswa as the only Ugandans playing in South African Premier Soccer League.
