Rwandan Gospel Musician Kizito Mihigo Found Dead In Police Cell

Rwandan gospel musician, Kizito Mihigo has been found dead in a police cell.

 Mihigo was arrested and detained last week by Rwandan authorities on allegations that he was illegally trying to cross into Burundi to join anti-Rwanda rebel groups.

He was arrested in Nyaruguru district.

In a statement, Rwandan police say they believe the 39-year old musician committed suicide.

The body of the singer was found hanging at around 5am in Ramera police station.

In 2018, Mihigo and other 2140 were released on orders of president Kagame. They were accused of trying to harm president Kagame and other Rwandan leaders.
