Pyramids appoint Former Croatian Coach, Ante Cacic As Their New Manager, After Sacking Sebastien Desabre

December 31, 2019

Pyramids have appointed Croatian coach, Ante Cacic as their new manager, just over a week after sacking Sebastien Desabre.

The Cairo-based club sacked Sebastien Desabre a week ago following a poor run of results which saw Pyramids lose to Aswan and Zamalek.

Following Desabre’s departure, Pyramids hired former Al Ahly head coach Abdel-Aziz Abdel-Shafy as an interim manager, with former Zamalek captain Mahmoud Fathallah as his assistant.

The club has now hired former Dinamo Zagreb manager Ante Cacic, who is set to steady the ship at Pyramids.

The 66-year-old will be joined by Ivica Sertic and Andrej Verncina as his assistants and Drago Condic as the goalkeeping coach.

It’s worth noting that Cacic managed four clubs in the Croatian First Football League including Inter Zapresic, Lokomotiva Zagreb, Slaven Belupo and Dinamo Zagreb.

Cacic’s best spell as manager came in 2012 as he took charge of Dinamo Zagreb for 41 games, where he won 27, drew six, and lost eight games.

The former NK Maribor also took over the Croatia national team between 2015 and 2017, guiding them to a round-of-16 finish in the 2016 Euros after losing 1-0 to Portugal.
