Burnley win at Old Trafford for the 1st time since 1962, Utd 0-2 Burnley

January 23, 2020

Manchester United fell to another embarrassing loss against bottom half opposition as Burnley left Old Trafford with a well deserved 2-0 win on Wednesday.

Manchester United’s failure to score against Burnley has been branded “unforgivable” by ex-United defender Phil Neville. The Red Devils had 24 shots on seven on target but were unable to find the back of the net.

In top goalscorer Marcus Rashford’s absence, United have failed to score against both Liverpool and Burnley despite a total of 33 shots across the 180 minutes.

Rashford is out for at least a couple of months with a back problem, leaving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer light in attacking options as they seek to address their issues in the January transfer window, with both Bruno Fernandes and Jude Bellingham targets.

But the Norwegian can still count upon the likes of Anthony Martial, Daniel James and Juan Mata – though none of the trio were able to net against the Clarets, with Neville left unimpressed by their efforts.

United missed the opportunity to move within three points of fourth place with what was a sixth defeat to a team in the bottom half of the Premier League table this term.
