Kateregga started his senior career at the now defunct Sports Club Victoria University in 2012, before joining 11-time Kenyan Premier League champions Tusker FC. He also briefly played for former KPL side Ushuru FC.

In the 2014/15 season, he returned to the Ugandan Premier League with Jinja-based side BUL FC, before making a return to Kenya.

On his return to Kenya he was signed by the 13-time KPL champions AFC Leopards where he lasted from 2015-2017.

He once again returned home joining KCCA FC and guiding them to the 2017 league crown.

In 2018 he was on the move again, this time signing for Premier Soccer League side Cape Town City in South Africa who loaned him out to Maritzburg United for the 2018/19 season.

He rejected another loan move from Cape Town, choosing to sign for Erbil SC as a free agent.

Kateregga is part of the Cranes squad that will play double header against South Sudan in the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
