National Unity Platform (NUP) have agreed to part ways Bobi Wine and his ‘People Power’ group over failed promises.

In a video that is circulating on social media, Moses Nkonge Kibalama the founding president of National Unity, Reconciliation and Development Party (NURD) which changed its name to National Unity Platform (NUP), regrets having entered a memorandum of understanding to work with People Power.

Kibalama says the People Power group approached them and promised a lump some of $5m (Five Million US Dollars) claiming the money was going to come from their donors but have not seen a coin up to now.

He says you can’t understand people until you work close to them. Kibalama says this was a bad deal and they shouldn’t have gone into it.

Kibalama questioned that by the time someone doesn’t honour his appointment, that shows you the type of people they will be dealing with and with that, they feel it’s useless to continue working with such a group.

Simbwa Paul,  who was acting as secretary general to National Unity Platform (NUP) before the new leadership of Bobi Wine came in, says they entered a gentleman’s agreement with People Power and were promised $5m, unfortunately, the money never came in.

Simbwa says they have agreed to withdraw the MOU because it has not worked. He claims there is no transparency and the activities carried out by the new leadership are not subversive.

To Simbwa, the MOU has been violated and the party is not run according to the objectives in which it was formed.
