Saidi Kyeyune, former URA FC midfielder is back in Uganda after quitting Sudanese club, El Merriekh in a space of just two months.

Kyeyune who joined El Merriekh after impressive performances with Uganda Cranes at the Africa Nations Championship in Cameroon early this year, blames El Merriekh for his brief stint.

Speaking to Daily Monitor, Kyeyune confirmed his availability and has been training with his immediate former club, URA FC.

“I have been training with URA lately but still waiting for final confirmation so that I help the club I love deeply to win the trophy,” Kyeyune told Monitor Sport.

“They (Al Merriekh) took me as a mercenary to play only in the Caf Champions League. I only played two games and was always out of the league squad as they claimed I had Covid-19, which wasn’t true. I couldn’t stand it and chose to terminate the contract”, he added.

As we speak, Uganda premier League table leaders, URA have started the process to register the midfielder as their player for the remaining games in the season.

“Over the weekend, we started on the process with Fufa to have Kyeyune available for the key matches we have to play”, URA FC publicist Patrick Ochieng said.

URA are currently leading the table with 47 points with nine games to go and are also in the Round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
