The war has erupted between National Unity Platform (NUP) diaspora diehards and Turkey-based blogger, ‘Teacher’ Fred Lumbuye Kajjubi aka Chemical Ali.

They accuse Chemical Ali of kidnapping himself and tricking them into fundraising $71000 which he pocketed.

On August 2, 2021, Ireland-based blogger, Kojja Omugezi, broke the news that Lumbuye was arrested and whisked into unknown destination.

Following weeks of searching, it was revealed that he was arrested by Turkish authorities for lack of proper documents after his working visa and passport expired.

In October 2021, Kyadondo East MP and Minister for Foreign Affairs in the Opposition, Muwada Nkunyingi flew to Turkey and confirmed Lumbuye was being held at Koceli Vililigi foreigners’ detention center, in Istanbul.

The State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Henry Oryem Okello said plans were in place to extradite the ‘toxic’ blogger to Uganda,

This forced, NUP supporters in diaspora to fundraise $71000 to hire a lwayer in bid to help him not to be extradited.

On October 19th, he was released from Kocaeli Foreigners Detention Centre but kept a low profile.

His fans who contributed money waited patiently for him to narrate how he was arrested, where he was detained and what charges were brought against him in vain.

Finally, it was revealed that Lumbuye planned his own kidnap and conned NUP supporters of their hard earned money.

Patricia Ssewungu who was spearheading the fundraising, says that after receiving the intel of Lumbuye self kidnap, they started becoming observant.

She says the video they recorded showing Lumbuye ‘kidnap’ at the end of it, people can be heard saying ‘That’s enough, it will work’.

Ssewingu says Lumbuye was hiding in Turkey. In her Facebook live on Ekyooto, Ssewungu, other NUP supporters asked Chemical Ali to come out apologise and refund their dime.
