NOT OVER? Man Utd still have weeks to sign Sarr after deadline day bid

October 6, 2020

Manchester United failed with a deadline day bid for Watford winger Ismaila Sarr – but could yet join the club this month.

The Manchester Evening News says United made an offer of an initial season-long loan with the option to buy at £25million, but Watford are holding out for an outright permanent deal. United prefer a loan.

The Hornets value the 22-year-old at around £45million and would be keen to sell if they received a permanent bid somewhere near that valuation. Liverpool registered an interest in him earlier in the window.

United are eager to sign a first team right-wing option on deadline day after unsuccessful attempts to sign Jadon Sancho and Ousmane Dembele in this summer window.

The transfer transfer deadline for Football League clubs is not until October 16th but United would need to complete a deal by Tuesday (October 6th) if he is to be registered for their upcoming UEFA Champions League campaign.
