MelBet Enter Marriage With Uganda Premier League Club, Kyetume FC

New betting company, MelBet have entered a partnership deal with Uganda Premier League side, Kyetume FC.

Speaking at the press conference held at their head offices – Business Park, Nakawa this morning, MelBet director, Kamwesigye Andrew described the partnership as marriage.

“We are pleased to have entered a partnership with Kyetume FC, We believe in what they are doing and heading. And this marriage will take us to the top. We do believe we are going to be champions of the Uganda league. People may say this is sponsorship, but for me and MelBet, this is marriage”, Kamwesigye told journalists.

Mel Bet CEO, Asiimwe Yasin emphasized that this is going to be a longterm deal and they have entered marriage with Kyetume because they support Ugandan football.

He revealed that the deal includes revenue share of 30% and wants to see Kyetume go to continental competitions.

“By sponsoring Kyetume, we wanted to support Ugandan football. As Kyetume is growing, we want to ensure we grow with them. And by doing so, we decided to take on the sponsorship which is going to be long term. It’s a multi-million deal that will  include revenue share that will support their operations. We want to ensure when it comes to Uganda Premier league and the Uganda cup, we look at going to continental competitions” Asiimwe said.

Kyetume president, Mubiru Reuben thanked MelBet for partnering with his club and promised to give them mileage.

Mubiru, a former player revealed that Kyetume FC started in 1970 and used to be sponsored by ‘Lufula’ (abattoir) and thats why they call themselves the ‘slaughters’.

He said last season they came to the league to stay and this time around they want to compete for the top prize.

Mubiru disclosed that Kyetume have already signed a 15-year lease with Buganda kingdom to use Nakisunga Ssaza grounds as their home ground.

They have so far invested 120m and are in the process of erecting structures to convince FUFA inspectors. They will also level ground for another two pitches to be used by the locals.
