Mathew Kanyamunyu Sentenced To 5 Years And 1 month In Prison For killing Kenneth Akena

Mathew Kanyamunyu has been sentenced to 5 years & 1 month after pleading guilty of manslaughter.

On November 12, 2016, Mathew Kanyamunyu in company of his girlfriend Cynthia Munwangari, shot child rights activist, Kenneth Akena Watmon in the stomach opposite Malik car bond for damaging his car.

Akena died a day after at Norvik Hospital, on Bombo Road in Kampala.

In October this year, Kanyamunyu travelled to Acholi and apologised to the deceased’s family. He was fined and forgiven.
Matthew Kanyamunyu, 37, confessed  to the heinous crime at a meeting presided over by Acholi Paramount Chief David Onen  Acana II as a chief witness at the Ker Kwaro Acholi compound.

Today, the DPP has withdrawn murder charges against his girlfriend Cynthia Munwangari and sentenced Mathew Kanyamunyu to 5 years & 1 month in prison.

Kanyamunyu is the Executive Director Quantum Express Logistics and the late Akena was the former employee of ACODER, a non-government organisation based in Kasese district.
