Sevilla coach Julen Lopetegui has emerged as a candidate for the Manchester United job.
Manchester United announced this morning the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with Michael Carrick placed in charge on a caretaker basis.
For the moment, United have no replacement lined up, though the Athletic says Lopetegui is under consideration.
It’s also been revealed Al-Rayyan coach Laurent Blanc may be appointed as a temporary option. Blanc is a former United player.
It is claimed Blanc is being considered as a ‘interim’ option rather than as a permanent manager.
Blanc previously managed PSG, but left club in 2016 after three years in charge. Blanc managed Edinson Cavani during his time in Paris.
Lopetegui, meanwhile, confirmed just last week he resisted an approach from Tottenham over the summer.
He currently has Sevilla top of La Liga, and has been at the club since 2019, knocking United out of the Europa League semi-finals on way to winning the trophy in 2020.
