Man City are set to complete their signing of Ferran Torres from Valencia on Tuesday, according to reports.

The winger is set to be Pep Guardiola’s first summer signing as he looks to close the gap on Premier League champions Liverpool, who won the title by 18 points.

The 23-year-old will be a direct replacement for Leroy Sane, who joined Bayern Munich last month.

L’Equipe report that Torres is set to sign a five-year-contract with Man City in a deal worth £37million.The move looks set to be completed on Tuesday.

Other reports from the media suggest the value could be much lower and around the £20million mark.

Terry Gibson, who played for Tottenham and Man United during his playing career and is now a pundit on Spanish football, joined talkSPORT to give us the inside info on Torres and said City are getting a great deal.

He told talkSPORT: “He’s worth more than double that (£20million). It’s an astonishing transfer because the circumstances of what we are in at the moment and I think transfer fees will begin to dwindle down a touch.

“Also the fact he only had a year left on his contract so Valencia are looking to take up a big building process and I think it’s been clear there must have been other clubs interested in him.

“He’s made it clear to Valencia that Manchester City is where he wanted to go and they are getting a sensational player.

“He’s been in the first team for three years, since the age of 17. He’s got Champions League experience and probably around 100 appearances already and is a sensational player.

“He’s lovely to watch and the Premier League will enjoy having him. He’s predominantly right footed but can easily control the ball and manipulate the ball with his left. He’s a dribbler, a wide player with pace. He has played behind the centre forward as well. So they are getting a stunning player.”
