Lionel Messi has hit back at Antoine Griezmann’s uncle’s training ground dig, saying he’s “tired” of always being the problem at Barcelona.
Messi spoke to reporters on Wednesday upon arriving in Barcelona following international duty with Argentina.
And he was asked about comments made by Griezmann’s uncle who said training sessions at Barcelona are designed to make the 33-year-old look good.
He said: “The truth is that I’m tired of always being the problem of everything at the club.”
The Frenchman endured a difficult debut season with his new team with reports suggesting a feud between the 29-year-old and the Barcelona captain.
The player’s uncle stoked the rumour by hitting out at Lionel Messi.
“Griezmann was convinced that he wasn’t going to be successful within the first six months, but what I didn’t expect was that [his struggles] would last an entire year,” he said.
“Besides, with Messi, I know what’s going on inside – it’s not easy.
“Basically, [Messi] doesn’t work hard enough at Barca and the training sessions are structured in order to please certain people, which is fine if you don’t want to work.
“Antoine needs to work, even though others don’t need as much effort to play well.
“He’s the other way around – he needs to put in a lot of effort for himself.”
This is the baddest guy around town. Hook me up so that we can share some routine infor in the area.
