Renowned gospel singer and former Buikwe MP, Hon. Judith Babirye has revealed she is battling with a mental disorder.

Babirye fled to the US to give birth in 2019, decided to stay there over pressure and talk that was making rounds regarding her marriage to fellow MP, Paul Musoke Ssebulime.

Babirye quit her ten years marriage with pastor Samuel Nuwo and married her fellow politician Paul Musoke Ssebulime in 2018.

Her marriage came with a lot of criticism from Musoke’s wife who accused Babirye of snatching her man.

Months into their marriage, the singer fled to USA when she was seven months pregnant. She gave birth and stayed there while her husband filed for divorce and went back to his first wife claiming that Babirye left him with nothing to ‘chew’.

Babirye revealed that she was not treated well by the politician in that she almost committed suicide. Through her Facebook page on Wednesday, the ‘Beera Nange’ hit maker shared that she is still struggling with depression, panic and anxiety attacks as well as nightmares caused by Gender Based Violence subjected to her.

I want to share something personal concerning August, a determinant if I live or die! I have suffered and endured Gender-Based Violence! Yes, even as a celebrity, a female politician, a role model, a mother and a public speaker. I have hidden my tears and pain under my dimples and smile, desiring to forget my past. But I cannot ignore the severe effects on my mental health anymore.

Daily, I struggle with depression, anxiety, constant panic attacks, fear and nightmares. I have been there and yes, ‘am on the road to recovery, it is still a long way. Thanks to God Almighty, the Doctors, family and you my friends, there is hope.

I choose to speak out!! I can’t keep quiet especially well knowing that even right now there is a woman on the blink of losing her life due to Gender Based Violence. No woman should go through what I went through or any form of violence. I stand with you, I see you, support, love and seek God to Protect you
