Jose Chameleone Reveal Plans To Quit Music

Jose Chameleone, real names; Joseph Mayanja has hinted on plans to quit music following 25 years taking the industry by storm.

Jose Chameleone and Bebe Cool helped in the revolutionalising of the Ugandan Music industry which was dominated by Congolese music ‘Lingala’.

And you can’t mention top five artistes in Uganda without mentioning Jose Chameleone, bebe Cool and Bobi Wine.

The trio have mentored several artistes through their crews; Jose Chameleone established ‘Leone Island’, Bebe Cool started Fire Base Crew but later left it with Bobi Wine and formed Gagamel Phamily.

Following 25 years thrilling Ugandans with hit songs, Chamili said he is working on plans to quit the industry. During a radio show at Kansanga-based local station, Galaxy FM, Chamili said he will quit the industry when he clocks 50 years.

‘Bayuda’ hit maker revealed that he is 42 and wants to spend the next eight years planning his exit arguing that by 50 years he will be exhausted.

“I’m 42 years old, I only have 8 years to make 50, at 50 I will be tired so I will have to slow down. I don’t want to jump on stages for my entire life”, Jose Chameleone said.

‘Valu Valu’ singer claims that he want to pave away for the new music generation to take over what he has been doing in the past decades.

Brief Back Ground Of Chamili:

Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleone was born on April 30th, 1979.

Chameleone’s career began in 1996 as a DJ at the Missouri night club in Kampala. He was later signed to the Kenyan record label Ogopa Deejays, which released his first single, “Bageya” that featured Kenyan artist Redsan. Throughout years he has recorded record selling albums like Mama MiaMambo BadoJamilaKipepeoBageyaShida za DuniaBayudaNjo Karibu among others. Jose released his first album in 2000 and by 2013, he had released a total of 13 albums. Some of them include Kipepeo, Shida za dunia, Valu valu, Bayuda, Badilisha, Sweet Banana and Champion. He is currently the CEO of Leone Island which is a music label. Some of his hit songs include Valu valu, Jamila, Shida za dunia, Bayuda, Tatizo, Nkwagala nyo, Kipepeo, Dorotia and Kipepeo.

Chameleone comes from a music family which is comprised of the late AK47, Weasel Manizo and Pallaso.

Recently, Chameleone joined active politics but unfortunately lost the Kampala Lord Mayor seat to incumbent to, Erias Lukwago.
