There was drama yesterday when Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon. Francis Zaake humiliated Speaker, Anita Annet Among by throwing away her 10m that was stuffed in an envelope.
Zaake wedded her fiancee and baby mama, Nnamirembe Bridget at Mityana Cathedral Parish – Kiyinda yesterday afternoon.
Later he treated his guests at a luncheon. As the function went on smoothly, guests started showering him with cash and non cash gifts.
Ndorwa East Member of Parliament, Wilfred Niwagaba represented Speaker, Anita Among and read her message. The speaker could not make it due to other engagements but sent 10m cash to Zaake as a congratulatory message.
After Niwagaba handed him an envelope to him, Zaake threw it away amid cheers from rowdy NUP fanatics who had attended the wedding.
Tactfully Zaake’s dad picked the envelope and kept it.
Zaake Vs Speaker Anita Among:
Putting a side his known dislike for the regime, Francis Zaake found himself in trouble after he attacked speaker, Anita Annet Among in a social media post.
He was dragged to parliamentary disciplinary committee but efforts to defend himself hit a dead end after Uganda Communications commission tabled proof of email address, zaakefrancis12@gmail.com that was used to open the Facebook account on which the alleged post was made.
Gulu West’s Bardege-Layibi county Member of Parliament Martin Ojara Mapenduzi moved a motion to censure Zaake on grounds of misconduct.
On march 10, MPs convened to decide on Zaake’s fate. In a secret ballot conducted out of 161 members of Parliament, 155 MPs voted to remove Zaake from the Parliament Commission while only four MPs voted against the proposal to remove Hon. Zaake. There were two invalid votes registered.
Since then, Zaake and Anita Among’s relationship became sour.
