Diamond Platnumz Loses BET Award To Burna Boy

Diamond Platnumz was on the verge of clinging a BET award for the Best International Act; 2021 after being nominated as one of the favorites.

Even though a section of Tanzanians weren’t rooting for him and wanted him out of the competition, Diamond still went on with it.

A great number of Tanzanians, including fellow musicians; had admitted to siding with Nigeria’s Burna Boy or WizKid on voting day.

To make things worse, they launched a petition to disqualify him. However, Diamond still has a huge fan base in Tanzania and East Africa.

Anyway, we have to admit that the competition was stiff. Take a look at The Best International Act Nominees, who were in competition with Diamond;

Burna Boy, Nigeria, Aya Nakamura-France, Diamond Platnumz- Tanzania Emicida- Brazil Headie One-UK, Wizkid- Nigeria, Young T & Bugsey- UK, Youssopha- France.

Despite losing the award, Diamond has thanked Tanzanians for their massive support. He has written on his Instagram saying;

The fact that Diamond isn’t giving up on winning the award still makes him a champ.
