Word has it that Gordon Wavamunno’s son, Elvis Ssekyanzi is planning to invest billions to revive iconic night spot, Club Silk.

Club Silk closed shop in 2016 and Ssekyanzi sold the building to Vision Group.

Before closure, Silk was always in competition with Charlie Lubega’s Ange Noir which rebranded to Guvnor.

When Ssekyanzi closed Silk in industrial area, he opened two hangout sports; Liquid Silk in Bugolobi and Naalya. The two clubs have since closed shop too.

Closure of Club Silk:

Silk opened shop in 1994. It was the first of its kind, at least in the arena of classic discotheques.

In March 2008, Silk introduced monthly unplugged shows that thrilled Kampala party animals. Every last Thursday of the month, one was either at Silk or nowhere.

In August 2014, Club suspended the unplugged shows and resorted to throwing wild parties; Miss Booty, Pole Dancing, Wear Less Pay Less, Doctors and Nurses, Caribbean Night and Dance in Da Dark among many others.

2015, Silk started struggling badly after one of Ssekyanzi’s share holder, Kavuma pulled out his funds. In 2016, he had no option but to close the shop.

We hear, he wants to revive Silk and has already purchased equipment for the club but location where he wants to set up it up is still unknown.

It should be noted that Elvis Ssekyanzi also runs Silk Events.
